Sports Medicine
As a fellowship-trained sports medicine specialist, Dr. Jeffrey Counts enjoys the complexity of caring for patients with a variety of sports-related and other injuries and conditions. His expertise includes minimally invasive spine surgery and spinal fusions, ACL reconstruction, shoulder arthroscopy, hip replacement, and Conformis custom knee replacement. He is also the only hip arthroscopist in northeast Louisiana, and he joined North Louisiana Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Clinic in 2005.
A West Monroe native, Dr. Counts received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Louisiana Monroe. After studying sciences at The University of Texas at Arlington in Arlington, Texas, he earned his medical degree at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri. He went on to complete an internship at Dallas/Fort Worth Medical Center in Grand Prairie, Texas, before completing an orthopaedic surgery residency at the Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas in Fort Worth, Texas. He later underwent additional sports medicine training through a fellowship at the University of Kentucky Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine in Lexington, Kentucky.
Dr. Counts welcomes input from his patients and their families in developing treatment plans, and he works diligently to determine a diagnosis for each of his patients in order to provide the best possible treatment. In his practice, Dr. Counts enjoys seeing the improvement that he can help people achieve in their daily lives. Outside of his practice, he enjoys reading, music, and travel. Dr. Counts also values staying active; he plays golf, hunts, and enjoys snow skiing.
