Sports Medicine
Dr. David Trettin is a board-certified sports medicine surgeon specializing in the compassionate, evidence-based treatment of sports-related injuries and conditions. He offers care for acute and chronic bone, joint, and muscle needs, including fractures and degenerative joint disorders. He is one of the first orthopaedic surgeons in Louisiana to be certified in sports medicine.
After graduating Tulane University in New Orleans with a bachelor’s degree in biology, Dr. Trettin completed medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He followed with an internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at Tulane University Affiliated Hospitals in New Orleans. He also received fellowship training in orthopaedic and sports medicine in Kansas City, Missouri, at the University of Missouri–Kansas City and the Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Clinic of Kansas City. During that time, he served as a team physician for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Dr. Trettin served as the medical director for Glenwood Sports Care from 1997 to 2007 and was the head team physician for the University of Louisiana Monroe from 1994 to 2012. Like the athletes he’s served, Dr. Trettin enjoys staying active. In his free time, he runs, plays tennis and golf, and goes fishing and skiing.
